About Oak Ridge, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Oak Ridge is a small village in lovely Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. With a population of about 243 people and only covering 0.57 square miles, it is a tiny little community.  However, it is just 10 miles northeast of Jackson, which is a larger community with many amenities.  For those who prefer the quiet, rural environment of a country community but want to be close to restaurants, stores and so on, Oak Ridge is a great place to live.  The moderate weather is seasonal.  It is hot in the summers and cold in the winters but never extremely so.  Everything about Oak Ridge is cozy and comfortable.

As one might gather from the name, the village is built on a high ridge.  The ridge divides the Apple Creek and Whitewater River watersheds.  Not shockingly, it is also surrounded by Oak trees. The community is certainly not a bustling center of commerce but there are some small diners and restaurants, shops and other retail stores.  West End Market, for example, has basic groceries and other convenience store supplies in addition to hot meals served daily.  Their “Fish Fridays” are especially popular.

There are also a great many churches in and around Oak Ridge. In this part of the state, churches are the centers of many communities and the residents of Oak Ridge socialize, enjoy fellowship and worship together within their churches.  Oak Ridge First Baptist Church, for instance, holds car shows, has a women’s sewing group and hosts a Vacation Bible School each summer.  Members spend the cold, wintery Christmas months sharing in their beliefs as they keep warm in the sanctuary.  When the weather warms, Easter comes and activities are brought outdoors.  Events like picnics and children’s events are common in the warmer months.
